Top Gun: Maverick
This was definitely worth the long, long wait. Tom Cruise returns with a fantastic sequel. The planes and their pilots are pushed to the brink, and so will your suspension of disbelief. It doesn’t matter. This is the movie that we have been waiting for for a long time, an epic that stays patriotic without getting political. A fine cast (including a returning Val Kilmer in a heartbreaking performance), great writing and deft direction make this the popcorn movie of the year, and an antidote to the wokeism plaguing many Hollywood productions. Biden’s dark, divisive speech
There is nothing quite like an angry old man blaming his predecessor’s supporters (roughly half of the voters) for the fall of America, while pounding his fists in front of a giant, dark red backdrop and flanked with the silhouettes of Marines. Kinda makes ya proud to be an American, ja? Would have been nice for him to actually discuss the problems currently plaguing America, and what he would like to do about it. Oh well, that’s showbiz…
